In a sleepy fishing village on the Bay of Bengal lies the most popular tourist spot in Myanmar, the Kyauk Maumghnama Pagoda (which means “brother and sister rocks” with its twin pagodas. A nearby elephant training camp is also a main attraction. Ngwe Saugn, which is pronounced “nway saung” has an unspoiled beach made up of fine, white sand and clear, deep waters. You can walk to Lover’s Island by foot during low tide, but beware of the high tide! Ideal for a quiet and picturesque vacation, there are many upscale resorts. If you are looking for action the nearby Chaung Tha Beach is a little rowdy with a lively night life and lots of local tourists. Ngapali Beach is the third most popular and is best when you want to get away from it all.
