The Move Toward Alternative Forms of Protein. Plant based alternatives to meat have become very popular with health conscious consumers. They are low in saturated fats and rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. Restaurants are jumping on this new health trend by offering meatless burgers and faux eggs. New products are expected to hit the market such as tuna made from legumes, shrimp from algae and lab grown salmon. Like most things moderation is key.
